As an artist in residence at Serenity Farm and Woods in Acton, Maine BJ’s work weaves together natural and traditional mediums including birch bark, watercolor. gouache and ink, capturing experiences celebrating the beauty and inspiration of the natural world. BJ's artistic journey is a life lived with curiosity and a passion for nature and diverse experiences.
Growing up in middle America, BJ's adventurous spirit compelled her to move to the Pacific Northwest in her early 20s. BJ's art took root in the Pacific Northwest, where her connection to creativity blossomed. Her love of nature grew through the many wonderful places she lived and traveled including Seattle, Portland, Dubai, China, and the south of England as well as spending time during the pandemic on a lavender farm and chalet near Mt Hood. It was just before and during the pandemic when BJ began to explore painting inspired by nature. During the later stages of the pandemic, she moved to Maine and now resides at Serenity Farm and Woods, a 30-acre wooded property not far from the Maine coast and the White Mountains.
BJ shares her tranquil nest with two loyal companions, Zak and Ted. Nature serves as both muse and studio, where she spends her days immersed in nature to guide and inspire her. Her work reflects not only a profound appreciation for the natural world but also a celebration of the rich tapestry of human existence. In BJ's art, viewers find an invitation to journey alongside her, exploring the diverse landscapes and stories that have left an indelible mark on her creative soul.
